HISTORY unfolds…….

In the year 1973, the Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish hoped to establish an institution of learning for the parochial youth. Thus, a group of women called the catholic Women’s league or CWL whose primarily aim is to help the parish, built the “Rural Improvement Club,” to which the main goal is to teach young children in the parish. The group appointed a member who is willing to teach and care for young children in the person of Mrs. Virginia M. Miso, who was a retired public school teacher and an active member of Catholic Women`s League.

From 1975 to 1980, “Rural Improvement Club” was renamed as the “Our Lady of Guadalupe Parochial School” with Mrs. Virginia M. Miso who willingly worked and determined to server young children from kinder garden during that time.

Beginning 1973 to 1981, the teaching and learning of the children was situated at the basement of convent and was moved to the Multi-Purpose Hall when built in 1982. School year 1980-1981, the parochial school was again renamed to now we call “Liceo de Pagsanjan”, under the supervision of Bishop Pedro N. Bantigue, the bishop of Diocese of San Pablo and Mrs. Virginia M. Miso as the school principal. In 1981-1982, the school has already teacher from kinder garden to Grade four. Because of good and quality education with its aim to mold virtues among Catholic students, parents made a letter of petition to Bishop Pedro Bantigue to complete its elementary level to Grade six. By joint union between parents and teacher and in depth prayers and sacrifices, that bishop authorized the school to achieve the elementary education from kinder garden up to Grade six with assurance from parents that they will help support the school towards improvement in facilities and other aspects.

In 1986, the First Commencement was successfully attained in which brought happiness and fulfillment to many of the parents in school.

In the years passed, fund raising projects were accomplished and contributed by parents to continually reform the school and its facilities. A talent search for Mr. and Mrs. Liceo De Pagsanjan became a victorious fund-raising for room expansion. Every year, the school upgrades its facilities to create a conducive and effective learning. Until, Liceo De Pagsanjan has gradually accumulated in population.

As principal of the school, Mrs. Virginia M. Miso together with the faculty and stuff strived to recognize the school by the Department of Education. Culture and Sports (DECS). In the October 22, 1987, Liceo De Pagsanjan was finally recognized as institution by the government; No. E – 019 and K – 017.

With the help and guidance of the lord and the Our Lady of Guadalupe, Liceo De Pagsanjan continues to increase in enrollees and improve school facilities better.

Mrs. Virginia M. Miso was succeeded by Mrs. Rosalina B. Bacsa (1995 – 1997); Ms. Loida L. Malijan (1998-200); Mrs. Gemma M Sanchez (2001 and at present).

Today, we can see Liceo De Pagsanjan growing and maturing from its accustomed surroundings Mrs. Gemma M. Sanchez, the current principal, together with the Association of Parents, Teachers and Administration, aid hand in hand to achieve a secondary education in due time.
